No Bake Cookies

I love cookies. I won't ever lie about it or hide it. If any food could be calorie free, I would choose cookies. For group tonight I am in charge of taking desserts so I am taking brownies and my great-grandma's no bake cookies!

I have a cookbook from my grandma's small town church in North Missouri. I love it. It has all of the go-to recipes for ordinary every day things. The other thing I love about it is that there are recipes from my aunts, my grandma and my great grandma in it! This specific recipe is a cookie for a family favorite-- a close race between these and my grandma's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

So here is the recipe for some quick, easy and delish cookies!

No Bake Cookies
2 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Milk
1/3 C. Cocoa Powder
1 stick of butter
1 tsp. Vanilla
3 cups of quick cooking oats
1/2 c. Peanut Butter (I use crunchy because that is what I buy)

Cook first four ingredients together on stove top. Remove from heat after it boils for one minute. Add remaining ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper and let cool! My grandma adds coconut too, and those are good too!

This is what my kitchen looks like while I am cooking--ah, a mess!
And what do little boys do while mom cooks??

Play with the empty oatmeal container of course!!!
