Thankful

I haven't been keeping up with the thankful daily posts on facebook because this month has been really interesting. It started with the wedding of the year, followed by having my gall bladder out and I am still recovering from that.... so I thought I would play a little catch up here...

1. Thankful for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is so good, He never gives up on us. His mercies are new every morning.
2. Thankful for my husband... my very best friend. We dated for the first time when I was 14 (crazy I know) and he was 15. We broke up a few months later, stayed friends, lost touch some when he left for college, but the Lord always laid Bryan on my heart. I prayed for him consistently (I have numerous prayer journals documenting this) even when we weren't in touch. We both walked through things independent of each other and had some bad relationships with other people that made us the people we are today. I could do a whole post about us (I may have to at some point)... but the Lord brought us back together 6 years after we first dated and we got married two years later. I love our love story. He still makes my heart leap after all these years, he is an incredible provider for our family, working full time at the Wal-Mart home office and as a wedding photographer on the side, and is the most amazing daddy to our boys. I could go on and on but I love him with my whole heart and I honestly feel like every new step in life makes me love him more.
3. Thankful for my Hudson. He is the light of my life. I have said it before and I will say it again and again. I was made to be a mom. The instant Hudson was born I became a happier person. Petty things disappeared, I didn't care so much about what people thought or really anything but being the best mom to my son. Some people have post partum depression and I feel like I had the opposite, more like an elation... and it has never gone away. Being a mom is the hardest thing I have ever done, it has taught me how to be selfless and put someone else's needs in front of my own, always. He amazes me every day. I love watching him learn and grow. My heart melts when he says "I wuv mommy" and gives me kisses. So thankful for my sweet two year old.
4. Thankful for my baby on the way. Hudson wasn't a planned baby. The Lord surprised us with him but this time around the baby was planned in advance. I will never forget the joy I felt when I took that positive pregnancy test (vs when I cried when I took it with H). We had only been trying for 3 months, which felt like an eternity, and when I got that positive test my heart leaped for joy. I am overjoyed for be a momma of two boys and even though we have a few more months until we meet this sweet boy, I am enjoying feeling him move and grow in me, it is such a miracle. I know that every baby is a blessing from God and I feel so blessed that he has given us another baby to love and raise.
5. Thankful for my parents. They helped shape me into the person I am today. I could go on and on about them... my mom is my best friend, mentor and confidant and my dad gives the best advice and I think I will always be a daddy's girl at heart... sometimes I can have the worst day and I just call my dad and cry and he just listens, thankful for him. I am so blessed to have amazing parents and awesome grandparents for my sons.
6. Thankful for my in-laws. If you follow my blog you have read quite a bit about Janet's journey this last year. I am thankful that the Lord has brought us all through the last 10 months and has blessed Janet and our family immensely. I am most thankful for the way they raised my husband and for my FIL for stepping in and raising a difficult 8 year old boy to being the incredible man he is today. They are also amazing grandparents and love my little boy so much. I tell people all the time that I feel like I hit the jack pot with my in-laws because we don't have issues and all get along great.
7. Thankful for my job. I love the flexibility of working two days a week and choosing my own schedule. I absolutely love being a nurse but last year at this time I was burnt out and in need of a change. I have been working on the pediatric floor now for 7 months and I love it. I never dread going to work, I love all my friends at work and I have the best boss. It was just the change I needed.
8. Thankful for our siblings. Thankful for my brother Adam, my SIL Jordan and my new BIL David.
9. Thankful for our house. Thankful to have a shelter, heat, a warm bed and a place to call home.
10. Thankful for our small group. I love all the friends we have made and love to have a group that we just fit in.
11. Thankful for my friends. I have a variety of groups of friends and I am thankful for them all... but I am still close with my three best friends from high school. They are truly the only people, outside of my family, who know me, know what makes me tick and understand me completely. We don't get to be together as much as we'd like but they have a super special place in my heart and I am so thankful for their friendship.
12. Thankful for health. This past month has been super interesting with my gall bladder problems, but I am grateful that the Lord has sustained me and that I am feeling so much better now.
13. Thankful for my grandparents. They're amazing. I am blessed to have all of my grandparents still living and in good health. My mom's parents live close and my Gma K helps with Hudson a lot and I am so thankful for that. My dad's parents live 6 hours away and I wish we got to spend more time with them... my Gma J holds a very special place in my heart. She is one of the most important people in my life... she raised 4 boys and it looks like I may be following in her foot steps.
14. Thankful for our church. Bryan and I both grew up at FBC in town and it will always be our home church but we wanted to find a church to call our own where we weren't known as just our parent's children. We joined GPC over a year ago and it is just a perfect fit.
15. Thankful for two working cars. Enough said.
16. Thankful for our little hometown. I have lived here since I was 2. For awhile I felt like we should move away and experience living in a big town, but now with little ones... we'd be silly to move away from our parents and I am quite obsessed with Bentonville. It is very possible we may never leave.
17. Thankful for Bryan's job. Wal-Mart is a great company and treats it's employees wonderfully.
18. Thankful for Hudson's teachers-- Mrs. Steph his MDO teacher and Mrs. Beth who helps us with Hudson on Wednesdays. We appreciate you loving on our boy so much! I never worry about him in your care and that means a lot!
19. Thankful for our two puppies. This may sound silly because I know I complain about them a lot BUT they are so great with Hudson and I love having big dogs that would take care of someone if they tried to get into our house. I'd be lonely during the day without them. I guess they're worth the messes and chewed up pillows.
20. Thankful for music. Nothing like Christmas music and praising our Savior for coming to save us.
21. Thankful for modern technology. I don't know that I could have survived in the olden days.
22. Thankful for Thanksgiving and being able to spend the day with family.
