Wednesday Musings

It's Wednesday. The boys and I have had a very low key week until today. We literally just hung out at home and I cleaned the house from top to bottom. My friend Jessica texted me yesterday to see if we would want to go to Jump Zone with them this morning and of course we were in.

The boys had a blast and ran out some energy. Hudson always enjoys time with his best friend, Ethan and I love getting to chat with Jessica- even if its while trying to keep an eye on all the crazy boys. It is already getting hot outside, just a glimpse of July and August and the scorching heat we have coming out way, so it was nice to have an indoor activity today.

When we got home I fed the boys lunch (Rhett ate quinoa, amazing?! Right? But before you go on thinking I am super mom, Hudson had a grilled cheese and pretzels. Ha.) and cleaned up a bit. I knew I had to work out while they were still awake because I needed nap time to get ready for my hot date tonight so I bribed them by getting out their blocks and letting them destroy the play room while I worked out.

Wait, Date? Ha, yeah... with my girl friends. I am so excited for a girls night and we are going to eat at Chuys then grab some coffee and do a little makeup shopping. I have literally saved 3/4 of my points for dinner tonight and I busted my booty to work out hard so I could enjoy a fun meal out. I am sitting here typing and eating my lunch which consists of apple slices, carrots and pb2 (a zero point meal). Then I might eat some fresh pineapple.

What I am learning with this new life style (I am being very careful not to refer or think of this as a diet but as a life style change) that it is okay to splurge every now and then, but best to plan for it. I am also learning that every bite adds up-- a handful of pretzels when I feed Hudson lunch still counts towards my points.

I will have eaten out twice this week, I will be interested to see how it effects the scale at my weigh-in tomorrow.  This is real life. I am still craving sweets and trying to satisfy that craving with something healthy. I am grabbing more healthy things and I am noticing that it is becoming second nature now. Bryan has even lost some weight probably because I fed him quinoa (aka "pig slop") for dinner last night and he wasn't a huge fan... ha ha ha.

So for now, I am going to finish eating my carrots and go blow dry my hair. Then I am going to put on my new jeans and cute new top to go out and have fun with my friends. I am extremely proud of myself and how far I have come in the month I have been on this journey.

That's all for now.

Happy Wednesday.

  1. Tyler HATES quinoa. I like it, but he has kindly asked me (after trying it several times several different ways) never to serve it to him again! ha!

  3. I still haven't tried quinoa. I am afraid of that strange eyeball-like texture. Good for you and enjoy your fun night!! -- Joanna
