Last 4th of July in Review... Family Fanatics style.
I love the 4th of July. I love being outside in the summer heat, eating hamburgers and hotdogs and my favorite-- homemade ice cream, and spending time with family.
For as long as I can remember my family has spent the 4th all together at my Grandparents house in north Missouri. We grill out and spend all day outside playing some form of ball- whiffle ball, softball, volleyball...
My brother and I, my cousins, my dad, grandpa and aunts and uncles ALL have a competitive streak. So it is always interesting when we all get together. Someone usually gets mad, someone usually has a "perfect" game... and someone always gets hurt.
Which leads me to last year... when I didn't even play... but I was the one who got hurt.
We had a great day grilling out and playing in my Grandma's yard with our extended family.
And a friendly game of whiffle ball was going down...
And then the biggest freak accident happened... Landon (Pictured above) threw a whiffle ball into the ground which then was deflected off of one of our little cousin's foot....
....STRAIGHT into my face. It broke skin and gave me a black eye and it HURT so bad.
Now, I know what you're thinking... how on EARTH did a whiffle ball do this?? Especially one that wasn't hit. We have replayed it a thousand times and it must have just been that the forces were JUST right for this freak accident.
...to make matters worse, I was nursing Rhett when this happened. I am just SO thankful it didn't hit him! AH!

This 4th of July, I am teaming with Fanatics and their "Family Fanatics" campaign. Fanatics asked me to share an instance where sports brought my family together. Sports bring my family together often, and we will be out playing again in a few days and I will be back looking for revenge! I didn't play last year, but you can bet your bottom dollar I will be playing this year! Fanatics is the leading online retailer of sports apparel and merchandise, head over to Fanatics.com to check out their selection of MLB hats. You should totally go over and check them out for your sports apparel needs!
(I was not compensated for this post, I just thought it was a fun campaign. And a huge props to my Aunt Michelle for letting me swipe some of her pictures!)
